#BobaFett before Jawas stole his armor in Chapter 1 of #TheBookOfBobaFett

Fun fact: prior to this live-action canon, Jawas coming across "Post-Sarlacc" Boba Fett was also seen in #StarWars #81 (late 1983 release, 1984 cover date) in a story called "Jawas of Doom"

What did you think of #BobaFett's live-action Sarlacc escape?

Previously, in print, we had survival stories in Marvel's Star Wars #81 ("Jawas of Doom") in 1983, Dark Empire #4 in 1992, Dark Empire Sourcebook in 1993, Twin Engines of Destruction in 1995/96, Tales from Jabba's Palace in 1995, Tales of the Bounty Hunters in 1996, and the Bounty Hunter Wars trilogy in 1998/9 – each of which told a different legend

"Return of the Jedi" Weekly #83 was released in the U.K. on this day in 1985, featuring the "Jawas of Doom" cover art by Tom Palmer.

The issue itself doesn't include any Fett fiction: it has parts of Star Wars #91, Star Wars #51, and a few other stories.

"Jawas of Doom" is truly contained in Star Wars #81 and has one of the "legendary" tales of Fett escaping (and falling back into) the Sarlacc.

Did you know #BobaFett was rescued outside the Sarlacc pit by Jawas in Marvel #StarWars #81?

While this is one of many times in "Legends" where he survived, in the current canon, his fate is still up in the air: https://bobafett.club/BobaFettDeadOrAlive

#ThrowbackThursday: "Aftermath" by Chuck Wendig (2015) had Jawas come across Mandalorian armor after the Battle at Sarlacc Pit -- although it was not confirmed to be from #BobaFett.

"Picking Up The Pieces" by ChuckleTree is a humorous take on that moment in the book. Wendig's sequel to the book, #StarWars Life Debt, is coming out July 12, 2016.

#ThrowbackThursday: Han Solo, #BobaFett, and Princess Leia in Star Wars #81: "Jawas of Doom" (1984)

First, Jawas discover Fett survived the Sarlacc but has amnesia! Then they happen to run into #HanSolo and #PrincessLeia who are looking for R2! As if that wasn't enough, he barely recognized Solo just as he falls back into the pit in an out-of-control Sandcrawler! Now that's entertainment.

This re-touched panel comes from #StarWars Omnibus "A Long Time Ago..." Volume 4, which was published in 2011 by Dark Horse Comics.

In Marvel's #StarWars #81 (1984), #BobaFett is found unconscious by Jawas outside the Sarlacc after The Battle of the Great Pit of Carkoon. #ExpandedUniverse stories like this are newly considered just stories and not within the official storyline for the saga.

If the #ExpandedUniverse is out, we could still see #BobaFett escape the Sarlacc. The official storyline just won't mirror the variety of versions already: #Jawas, #Dengar, and/or being "simply indigestible." If the official word on the street is that the jetpack-clad bounty hunter is still officially down in the pit after this #ReturnOfTheJedi moment -- pictured here in a painting by Dave Dorman -- it could also mean that 1) he's not necessarily dead and 2) he could escape in one of the new Disney/Lucasfilm films. What do you think?

In Star Wars #81, #BobaFett flew right out of the #Sarlacc -- right after the "burp" and right before being found by #Jawas and suffering from memory loss! This panel features #illustration by Ron Frenz, Thomas Palmer, and Tom Mandrake. The #comic was written by Jo Duffy, published by #Marvel, and released in 1984.
